The 20 Best Impractical Jokers Episodes of All Time

With over 200 episodes across 11 seasons, Impractical Jokers has produced some of the most genuinely funny television of the past decade. Not all episodes are created equal — some are forgettable, but the best ones are all-time comedy classics. Here’s our ranking of the 20 greatest.

20. “The Alliance” (Season 3)

An early glimpse at what made the show special — Q and Sal form a secret alliance against Joe and Murr, leading to a string of perfectly coordinated ambushes. The punishment, where Murr has to sit through his own surprise party thrown by strangers, is quietly devastating.

19. “Jokers’ Choice” (Special)

A fan-voted episode that highlights some of the best challenges from the show’s first few years. Great entry point for new viewers and a proper nostalgia hit for longtime fans.

18. “The Egged” (Season 2)

Joe’s challenge where he has to read an increasingly absurd children’s book to a group of actual children without laughing remains one of the show’s purest moments. The kids’ confusion makes it even better.

17. “Baggage” (Season 4)

The airport challenges show the jokers at their most committed — Sal’s breakdown over a lost item and Murr’s bewildering customs conversation are both exceptional.

16. “Tooth and Consequences” (Season 5)

Murr’s punishment — having a tooth extracted while pretending to give a dental seminar — is one of the show’s most genuinely uncomfortable moments. You can’t look away.

15. “Nationals” (Season 7)

The jokers compete in increasingly chaotic public challenges, culminating in one of Joe’s best punishments: sitting on a panel as an expert in a field he knows nothing about.

14. “Superstore” (Season 8)

The full-episode format works brilliantly here. Set entirely in a big-box store, the episode builds momentum before a punishment that’s both creative and genuinely painful.

13. “Cyber Buddies” (Season 2)

One of the earliest truly great episodes. The computer store challenges are inspired, and Sal’s punishment — being left alone with a man he’s accidentally offended — remains one of the show’s most anxious half-hours.

12. “Brother-in-Loss” (Season 5)

Murr’s punishment is iconic: his sister is brought in to fire him from his real job in front of his actual coworkers. The discomfort is genuine, the reaction is priceless, and it set a new bar for how far the show would go.

11. “Animal Instincts” (Season 9)

The animal-themed challenges produce some of the show’s most absurd moments. Q’s task involving a parrot in a shopping mall is a masterclass in maintaining a straight face.

10. “The Blunder Years” (Season 6)

Strong challenge run followed by a punishment that weaponises Sal’s childhood — his old school photos displayed publicly with captions written by the other jokers. Simple, but incredibly effective.

9. “Suck It” (Season 2)

One of the most replayed episodes on the internet. The vacuum cleaner sales challenge produces moments so unhinged that even veteran viewers still can’t believe they aired on television.

8. “Look Out Below” (Season 3)

The skydiving punishment for Murr — who is terrified of heights — is genuinely stressful. The fact that his jump instructor is his sister makes it legendary.

7. “Sour Persimmons” (Season 4)

The challenges are inventive, but the real centrepiece is Sal’s punishment involving his biggest fear. Without spoiling it: cats are involved.

6. “The Great Escape” (Season 3)

The episode that convinced many casual viewers to become serious fans. The challenges are sharp throughout, and the punishment — involving a live stage performance — is both hilarious and impressively produced.

5. “Snow Way Out” (Season 6)

Set during a winter storm, every challenge has an extra layer of difficulty. Q’s punishment, which involves a full press conference, is one of his best performances.

4. “The Walking Debt” (Season 5)

A perfect episode from start to finish. Murr’s punishment — being auctioned off as a personal servant to the highest bidder — is creative, well-executed, and properly mortifying.

3. “Practically Live” (Special)

The live special changed the show’s format in real-time and proved that Impractical Jokers could work in front of a massive studio audience. The punishments are bigger, the stakes feel higher.

2. “Joker vs. Joker” (Season 8)

The one-on-one format strips away the group dynamic and forces each joker to compete head-to-head. The result is the most focused, inventive episode the show has ever produced.

1. “Brother-in-Loss” (Season 5) — The Definitive Episode

Having Murr fired from his real job, by his real sister, in front of his real colleagues, remains the single most committed punishment in the show’s history. Everything works. Nothing is faked. It’s perfect television.
